Diving

We cater for certified scuba-divers, freedivers or just those who wish to snorkel in an idyllic secluded bay and admire the varied marine life. In season excellent numbers of crayfish and scallops are available for the 'hunter-gatherer'.

Spectacular diving is available on the many reefs in the Bay including the inshore islands Karewa and Motiti. The offshore islands Mayor (Tuhua) and Plate island as well as Schooner Rock also represent great dive locations with different attributes.

The 1940’s tug the ‘Taioma’, a 230 ton vessel was sunk in 2000 at Motiti and is a very accesible wreck dive and now home to diverse marine life. The wrech is fully accessible and provides some awesome photo opportunities.

Inshore half day dives usually involve two dives, offshore trips up to four. We are very happy to do some fishing in any dive 'down time', if required.

Our Stabicraft provides a very stable dive platform. We recommend four divers as a maximum 'comfortable' number.

Note: We regret we do not provide dive gear, though try to carry some essential spares on the day. We have a limited number of dive tanks that can be hired.
